Sioux Empire
Sioux Falls is the largest city in the state of South Dakota. Sioux Falls is the county seat of Minnehaha County, and also extends into Lincoln County to the south. The city is the primary city of the Sioux Empire Area with the 2000 census showing the metropolitan population of 234,094.

Chartered in 1856 on the banks of the Big Sioux River, the city is situated on the Great Plains at the junction of I-90 and I-29. The history of Sioux Falls revolves around the Big Sioux River which was created about 14,000 years ago during the last ice age. The area also retains a strong Native American presence with many reservation communities in the state with numerous Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota still residing in Sioux Falls.

Sioux Falls also retains its high ranks by Forbes, CNN, and Money Magazine as being among the top cities throughout the country for business, careers, and to live due to its easy going and friendly atmosphere, lack of state income tax, and inviting business climate.
